How Invisalign Works

Step 1
The patient meets an orthodontist who takes an impression of the patient’s teeth.He prescribes a treatment method , and sends the impression to the Technology lab.

Step 2
A physical model of patient’s impression is made.Then that model is digitised using a 3D scanner.

Step 3
By using computer system,data is imported into the Invisalign.It’s used to produce digital models and start-to-finish 3D animations of the patient’s personal treatment method.

Step 4
The 3D models and animations are reviewed and orthodontist approves the treatment method.From these images, lab manufactures a unique set of clear, plastic aligners.

Step 5
The patient wears aligners for two weeks before switching to the next in the series.Treatment time is similar to metal braces and usually ranges from few months to 1 year depending on the complexity of the case.

Now various companies are offering clear brace such as Invisalign.Patients can now wear clear teeth retainers/braces to straighten teeth and take them out for eating.It is specifically designed to straighten teeth according to bite and teeth.You can get a new set of retainers frequently.Cost of Braces in each case is different,compared to metal braces it is considerably different.For new invisible braces, you can expect to pay close to double that of metal braces.It is also time consuming an average total treatment time: a few months to 1 1/2 years.

It is a good alternative but there are limitations.Invisalign does not work much on vertical problems, where the teeth are lower or higher than others. It does not work much on teeth that are severely rotated, sometimes it does not do a good job at correcting bite issues.

The cost of Invisalign will be more than with metal Braces.The computerized Invisalign Aligners will result in a lab bill.It is passed on to you in the form of your treatment fee.With Metal Braces there is the cost of the brackets and wires, but no such lab bill.The Invisalign Aligners are removable and they can be misplaced.Lost Invisalign Aligners may delay treatment until your new custom made Invisalign Aligners are replaced.Sometimes it may result in an extra charge by your Orthodontis.

Cleaning Invisalign is very simple.Invisalign can clean with Regular toothpaste and brush not whitening toothpaste,because some whitening toothpastes may dull the aligner ie,making the teeth look somewhat yellow.As they are replaced every two weeks,it is a minor issue.It is important to brush and floss after each meal.After this you can pour a little mouthwash over the aligners and this will help in keeping your mouth feeling fresh.
