Smoking is injurious to heath in the generic sense but the damages it causes to the teeth are immediately visible and one can notice the difference very clearly. The one thing most prominent is the decolouration of the teeth. Nicotine present in teeth can cause decolourisation of the teeth.

Smokers have bad breadth when compared to non smokers. Smoking leads to plaque accumulation which leads to the decay of the teeth.  Due to the accumulation of nicotine deposits it leads to the destruction of the gums. This also affects the normal functioning of the teeth.

Periodontal is one of the major cause of teeth lose in adults and this can be caused by excessive smoking. A very major cause of oral cancer is smoking and it is one of the most prominent reasons for cancer. Majority of the oral cancer patients are smokers and the number is around 90% of smokers who are affected by this.

Smoking also causes shift in alignment of teeth.  Avoiding or quitting smoking can be a great way to reduce disturbances in teeth malfunctioning and the health in general.
